The Rio Grande Theatre, originally built in 1926, is a restored  performing arts center in the heart of Downtown Las Cruces. It is the only operating 2-story adobe theater in the country and is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. The Theatre is owned by the City of Las Cruces and operated by the Doña Ana Arts Council.

Career Art Path

Career Art Path is a two week immersion program in the visual arts for middle school students.  The program is designed for students entering the 5th, 6th, 7th and 8th grades and will be held at the Alma d’Arte Charter High School, 402 W Court Ave, Las Cruces, NM.  The program includes hands on experience in many fields which may include ceramics, painting, sculpture, textiles, jewelry and print making.  The students take field trips to local galleries, museums and businesses for exploration of the many career avenues available in the arts.  The program culminates with an art show featuring the students’ art work.  Registration will be limited to 40 students.  The deadline for enrollment is May 19, 2017 (or until we receive 40 applications) and parents should be aware an Art Teacher recommendation is a required part of the application.  Payment is due with the completed application.  Partial scholarships are available on a needs basis.  For more information contact development@daarts.org.
